Autauga Volunteer Opportunities
AARP and AARP Tax Assistance: For civic minded, active seniors who want their voice to be heard. Monthly meetings, small annual dues and a variety of projects to work on. In tax assistance volunteers receive training to prepare taxes for clients.
Autauga Christmas Team: This station reports hours from September- January. Volunteers assist local indigent families with obtaining Christmas for their children, food boxes etc. They work in connection with DHR, Salvation Army, Autauga County Rescue Squad, Toys for Tots and local churches/businesses. Volunteers do intake forms and other clerical duties, some travel to county sites to do intakes, participate in food drives in conjunction with Boy Scouts, schools and local churches, pick up and sort donated items, pack and help deliver boxes to the approved families.
Autauga County Extension Service: Various volunteer opportunities to help with special projects such as master gardeners, Farm City week and horse/ cattle shows.
Autauga Co. Habitat for Humanity: Provides affordable housing for eligible participants. Houses are constructed by volunteers. A variety of vol. opportunities are available i.e. carpentry, painting, landscaping, clean up etc. Volunteers are also utilized in the office to do clerical work and leadership roles.
Autauga County Water Festival: The Water Festival is an annual event that is offered free of charge to all Autauga County fourth graders and their teachers. The mission of the festival is to educate students about all aspects of water and related natural resources. Volunteer jobs include: classroom presenters, classroom assistants, tour guides, registration workers, lunchroom volunteers and set-up/ clean-up crews.
Autauga Healthy Futures Backpack Program: Volunteers purchase, fill with nonperishable foods, deliver to school, and clean backpacks provided for selected students for them to carry home over the weekend.
Autauga Frozen Meals: Volunteers are needed to package donated food to be distributed to seniors who are on a waiting list for Meals on Wheels.
Autauga Heritage Association: Volunteers are needed to serve as tour guides, do mail-outs, assist visitors with research, answer phones and assist with various special projects.
Autauga Inter-Faith Care Center: A crisis intervention center that provides food, clothing and financial assistance. Volunteer duties include clerical, completing in-take forms, food bank workers and clothing closet workers.
Autauga Veterans and Military Families: Service to veterans through benefits assistance
Autaugaville Food Pantry: Volunteers stock shelves, unload trucks, do intake forms, meet with clients, do clerical work.
Autaugaville Senior Center Home Meals: Volunteers pack hot meals to be delivered to homebound seniors.
Billingsley Senior Center Home Meals: Volunteers pack hot meals to be delivered to homebound seniors.
Gillespie Senior Center Home Meals: Volunteers pack hot meals to be delivered to homebound seniors.
Gillespie Meals on Wheels: Volunteers deliver meals on wheels to homebound seniors in the Prattville area.
Knights of Columbus: Men’s Christian organization that provides various services to our community. They do fundraisers to benefit local non-profit organizations, sports camps, hands on volunteering at other RSVP stations and scholarship funding.
Lady Bug Quilters: Group makes quilts, hats, lap blankets for cancer and dialysis patients.
Mount Sinai Center Home Meals: Volunteers deliver meals on wheels to homebound seniors in the Prattville area.
NABVETS (National Association of Black Veterans): assist retired and active duty soldiers and sailors with benefits assistance.
PASS: Volunteers assist with drug testing at schools for students willing to participate in the PASS (Peers Are Staying Straight) program.
Prattville Baptist Medical: Local hospital with a variety of volunteer opportunities in a health care setting.
