Who We Are

The Montgomery Area Council on Aging dba Meals on Wheels Montgomery AL Metro Area, has served seniors in Central Alabama for over 50 years. From our beginnings in 1972, the agency's mission has been to assist senior citizens by providing services to promote independent living, offering opportunities to enhance quality of life, and increasing community awareness of senior issues.

Meals on Wheels Montgomery Metro Area promotes independent, dignified, and meaningful living for senior citizens through a variety of programs that offer hope, care, sustenance, and opportunity to more than 5,000 seniors each month.

Meals on Wheels Montgomery AL Metro Area activities provide the warmth of family and home along with the hope, motivation, enjoyment, and means to live independently.

Guiding Principles

To preserve the dignity, independence, and security of seniors living in Autauga, Coosa, Elmore, Montgomery, and Tallapoosa counties.

  • To develop and maintain a comprehensive, coordinated continuum of services for seniors.

  • To enhance people's abilities to continue contributing to society spiritually, mentally, and physically as they grow older.

  • To empower people to make good choices and take responsibility for themselves as they age.

  • To focus efforts on older people with social and economic needs.

  • To expand the capacity to provide home and community-based services for seniors with fund-raising events; the solicitation of group and individual donations; and the pursuit of public funds.

  • To promote partnerships and networking within the River Region to accomplish programs and services for seniors at the lowest possible costs.
